Hello! Welcome, it’s so nice to have you here.
Well you guys, I’m going to break a bit from the normal lightheartedness of my blog today. It feels like it would be irresponsible to skirt over the gut-wrenching events that have dominated the news lately. Devastating hurricanes and earthquakes, senseless acts of violence have been weighing heavily on my mind. It’s nice to have an outlet, like this blog, to escape from the heaviness around me. I hope it provides you a little escape, too. But I also want to make sure that I use this outlet to reach out to you. It’s amazing what we accomplish when we all work together. Through tragedy, I find hope in watching people bond together to help. And there are so many ways to help, big and small, it all matters. Act, donate, serve. I pray for peace and the future. I know I need to step up; though it is incredibly important to raise my children to be kind and to be helpers, I also know that I can’t just tell them how to act, I need to lead them through my own actions. I will do more. Here are some good places to start:

I absolutely welcome any suggestions or thoughts you may have. And please know that I’m not trying to lump all tragedies together. Natural disasters are one thing and violence is certainly another. But let’s keep the conversation constructive, because fighting on the Internet is, well, kind of the opposite. I’d much rather have a one-on-one discussion in a quiet space over a slice of pie.
Now, there is no good transition from that to Friday Favorites. Seriously. So, here are my cute kids…
We baked fall sugar cookies, had a tea party, Quinn watched The Little Mermaid for the first time, and Wyatt transitioned from his bassinet to a crib. Oh, and he started sleeping through the night 😳 I have been getting a solid 7 hours of sleep a night 🙌🏼 So that’s pretty fantastic.
I hope you all have a great weekend filled with good things. Now let’s escape for a few minutes, here are my favorite things from around the web in this week’s edition of Friday Favorites.
