These beauties taste like just like apple crisp and are perfect for a date night at home.
Ingredients
- 3 extra large apples (I used a Jonagold for the shells and a Pink Lady for the filling)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Crumb Topping
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Peel and dice up one apple. Sauté the apple in butter with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for about 8 minutes, until the apple is tender.
- Slice off the tops of the other two apples and use a spoon to carefully scoop out the insides, leaving a bit around the edges of the apples. Discard the insides and tops of the apples. Place the apples in a small baking dish.
- In a small bowl combine all of the crumb topping ingredients except for the butter. Once the ingredients are combined, cut in the butter until the mixture begins to crumb together.
- Fill the scooped out apples with the apple filling and pile the crumb topping over the top. There is a lot of crumb topping, but pile it up as high as you can.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 15 minutes, the crumb topping should be a light golden brown. Enjoy!
