BOO! Did I scare you? Do these caramel apple mummies scare you? Probably not, but it was worth a try. I’m not into scary stuff, but I am into cute, which is how I came up with these mummies. They are not the least bit frightening, but are delicious and perfect for Halloween (and that’s nothing to boo about).

These caramel apple mummies are frightfully good.
Ingredients
- 2 apples
- Caramel squares, 1/2 package (about 20 caramels)
- White candy coating, 1/2 package (or 1/2 cup white chocolate chips melted with 1 tsp shortening)
- Candy eyes
- Popsicle sticks
Instructions
- Wash and slice your apples. Make sure the slices are thick enough to fit the popsicle sticks in, I got 4 slices per apple.
- Insert the popsicle stick and place on a parchment or wax lined sheet. Use a paper towel to pat the apples dry (this will help the caramel stick to the apples).
- Melt the caramel squares with 1 tablespoon of water in the microwave. Heat for 1 minute and stir, if not fully melted, continue heating in 10-second intervals.
- Dip each apple in the caramel and place back on the parchment paper.
- Stick the candy eyes on the caramel-coated apples.
- Place apples in the fridge for 1 hour or freezer for 15 minutes to allow the caramel to harden.
- Melt the white candy coating according to package directions.
- Pour the melted candy coating in a Ziploc bag with a tip snipped off and decorate the apples like mummies. The candy coating will harden quickly.
- Enjoy immediately (or at least within a day of making).
Notes
Prep time does not include the chill time for the caramel, which is 1 hour in the fridge or 15 minutes in the freezer.
