I couldn’t remember the last time that I ate a Rice Krispie treat. What a shame. To change that, I headed to the kitchen to make one of the simplest desserts known to man. I mixed mine up by adding bits of dried cherries and finished them off with a drizzle of white chocolate. A fine twist on the classic! Bonus, the cherries add a punch of red that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day ♥

From: Spoonful of Sugar
Ingredients
Rice Krispies Treats
6 cup Rice Krispies
1 cup dried cherries
5 Tbsp butter
10 oz. (about 7 cups) large marshmallows (or 7 cups of small marshmallows)
1 tsp vanilla
White Chocolate Drizzle
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
Rice Krispies Treats
Line a pan (8×8″ or 9×9″) with foil and spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
Pour Rice Krispies and dried cherries into a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until fully melted. Reduce heat to low and stir in the marshmallows. Stir until mostly melted, about 3 minutes, and remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla. Work quickly and pour the marshmallow mix into the bowl of Rice Krispies and cherries. Stir to combine. Pour into prepared pan and press down to flatten. Allow the treats to cool completely.
White Chocolate Drizzle
Combine white chocolate drizzle ingredients in a small bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir. If not fully melted, continue to microwave for 10-20 seconds at a time. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled Rice Krispies with a fork or spoon. Allow the drizzle to set up a bit, around 5-10 minutes, before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
