Greetings! How was your 4th of July? We joined the fireworks festivities on our rooftop on the 3rd & took in a repeat display last night from the comfort of our deck. I don’t know if it was more fun watching the pretty fireworks or hearing how many car alarms were set off by the booms. We also celebrated with some downright American food: homemade chili sauce topped hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, iced tea, and peach pie. Today we’re doing an equally American thing, heading to the DMV to license our new vehicle. Don’t be jealous.
I hope you all enjoy the weekend and continue to celebrate! Now it’s time for my favorite things from around the web in this week’s Friday Favorites. Please enjoy & then promptly get off the internet and head outside (weather permitting). 😉

Favorite Rolls: Summer Rolls with Sweet & Spicy Peanut Dipping Sauce. Colorful and flavorful is all you really need on your plate this summer.
Favorite Color Combo: Aqua and Purple. Wow! This vibrant color combo is not one that I normally put together, but I’m loving how well these colors go together!
Favorite Drink: Frosty Orange Smoothie. Back in my college days I worked in the mall and had my fair (read: ridiculous) share of soft pretzels (Auntie Anne’s, of course), a mix of white cheddar/caramel popcorn, and Orange Julius. Since I don’t wander around malls very often anymore, I should learn how to make my favorite mall drink at home!
Favorite Blankets: FEED for Target Throw Blankets. Target has partnered with FEED USA to sell a collection of products in the store with the promise of providing meals to hungry Americans. Buying this throw blanket will provide 24 meals through FEED USA. Pretty neat, huh?
Favorite Fish: Crispy Fish Sticks with Tartar Sauce. A couple of years ago Josh & I decided to buy a ginormous bag of frozen fish sticks and a tube of tartar sauce. What seemed like a good idea at the time turned out to be an overload of limp fish. I thought I might forever avoid fish sticks, but after seeing this recipe I think I must give them another shot. These sticks look crispy and delish!
Favorite Fashion: Mixed-Eyelet Dolman Dress at Old Navy. When I saw this blogger’s pic of this dress I was surprised to see that it was an affordable Old Navy dress! The styling of this crisp white summer dress has me wanting to run (or click and order) to Old Navy and buy it!
Favorite Tart: Chocolate Caramel Hazelnut Tart with Toasted Meringue. Isn’t this dessert gorgeous!? I have major baking envy.
Favorite Fixer: How to Remove Scratches on Leather. Our leather couch and chair have gained some scratches in the past 4 years. Perhaps it’s the 7 moves that we’ve made around the country…hmmmm. These tips for removing scratches are much-needed!
Favorite Food Craze: The Cronut. What is with the Cronut?! I have been hearing so much about this croissant/doughnut hybrid lately, but am not planning on going to NYC to stand in line for a taste of this craze. However, with this amazing Thomas Keller recipe for croissant dough fried up as a doughnut, I am definitely willing to make them at home. Have any of you been to Dominique Ansel Bakery to try the real deal?
Favorite Sign: Be Our Guest. Perfect sign for the guest bedroom, for sure. You just need a board, chalkboard paint, chalk, and good penmanship. Your guests will be singing the Beauty and the Beast song all day long. 🙂
Favorite Salad: BBQ Chicken Salad with Avocado Dressing. What drew my eye to this salad was the Avocado Dressing, but I must say the rest of the ingredients sound equally tasty!
Favorite Funny: I also do this when I look at cookbooks, food magazines, food blogs, and food tv.
Happy Friday!!!
