Friday Favorites

May 17, 2013 by Melissa

FRIDAY!!!  After a speedy week I almost feel spoiled that it’s the weekend again.  I will gladly take it though!  Last weekend’s car shopping was a success, it took approximately 30 minutes for us to find what we wanted and then 7 hours to get the paperwork done.  A little crazy, but in the end we are quite pleased with our new Jeep!  Perhaps I should take a pic of it and more from our new place to post on here.  It looks like this weekend we’ll be cleaning up our old house, not fun but I’m sure if we play music while we clean and take a break for Good Times Frozen Custard I won’t complain too much (Josh, take note of these requests).

Have a fabulous weekend, folks!  Please enjoy my favorite finds from around the web in this week’s Friday Favorites.

Favorite Drink: Easy Homemade Peach Iced Tea.  I reckon one of these in my hand while sitting on the deck would be quite nice.

Favorite Coasters: Pallet Coasters made out of Popsicle sticks and glue.  Thrifty genius!

Favorite Pasta: Spring Pea + Asparagus Pasta.  Asparagus, peas, pasta, lemon, parm, pine nuts, and tons of fresh herbs make this pasta a top choice for summer salads!

Favorite Candles: Summertime Floating Candles with Citronella Oil.  Add your favorite citrus, herbs, and citronella oil to a mason jar and top with a floating candle for a pretty and functional outdoor candle.  And yes, the fact that it’s in a mason jar makes it hard for me not to favorite. 🙂

Favorite Dessert Tart: Raspberry Curd Tart.  What a gorgeous dessert!

Favorite Cleaning Tip: How to wash & whiten yellowed pillows.  Fresh sheets on a bed are the best.  However, putting fresh pillowcases on a yellow pillow is not the best.  Washing pillows seems to be one of the cleaning tasks that I put on the back-burner.  Reading this how-to makes washing pillows seem easy and well-worth it!

Favorite Tacos: Potato, Poblano, and Chorizo Tacos.  Fiesta time!  I love me a good taco.

Favorite Fresh Food Chart: The Eat Seasonably Calendar.  A guide to buying produce at its prime.  I should staple this to my grocery list.

Favorite Kitchen Decorating: Creative seating.  Mix and match your bar stools for a fun look in the kitchen.  I’ve seen this with dining room chairs, but never with bar stools.  What a great look!

Favorite Kabobs: Strawberry Angel Food Cake Kabobs.  Who says kabobs have to be savory??

Favorite Plates: Evita Dessert Plate from Anthropologie.  In taking pictures for my blog, I’ve realized that I need more pops of color in my pics.  Aren’t these plates eye-catching?

Favorite Appetizer: Puff Pastry Tomato Tarts.  So many of my favorites lately have been fruit recipes, I’ve almost forgotten that tomatoes are in season.  Wait, is a tomato a fruit?  Regardless, this is a beautiful dish.

Favorite Shadow: Sonia Kashuk Eye Couture-Eye on Glamour at Target.  My eye shadows are usually brown, dark brown, light brown, brown, brown, brown….you get the picture.  Buying a variety of shadows in one handy pack could be just the thing I need to branch out from my typical brown.
