Tiramisu Brownies

August 30, 2012 by Melissa

Today’s recipe is a mix of brownies, cheesecake, and tiramisu.  Need I say more?  Probably not, but I will tell you that these brownies are mouth-watering, decadent, and, well, pretty much amazing.  I made them for my sister’s birthday last weekend and they were the perfect treat for the coffee lover that she is!  Yes, I will be making these again…

From: Inside BruCrew Life
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

Brownie mix for a 9×13″ pan   (The brownie mix I used called for 1/2 cup oil, 1/4 cup water, and 2 eggs)
1/2 c. milk
4 Tbsp. instant coffee, divided
1 c. sour cream
1 box cheesecake pudding
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 (16 oz.) container of cool whip, divided
2 1/2 c. hard lady finger cookies, broken into chunks  *(I made homemade ladyfingers from Joy of Baking)
1/2 c. hot water
Cocoa powder

Directions

Bake brownies according to the package directions, make sure to use the 2 egg directions. Remove from oven and cool completely.
If you are making homemade lady fingers, make them now.
In a medium bowl, dissolve 2 of the tablespoons of coffee into the milk. Now whisk in the pudding mixture. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese with a hand mixer. Then add in the sour cream and beat on low until combined. Use a spatula to fold in the pudding mixture and half of the cool whip.
In a small bowl, dissolve the remaining 2 tablespoons of coffee in hot water and then drizzle over the cookie chunks. To assemble to brownies, spread 1/4 of the pudding mix over the cooled brownies. Layer the cookie chunks on top of the pudding and then cover the cookie chunks with the rest of the pudding mix. Top with remaining half of cool whip and dust with cocoa powder. Slice & serve. Refrigerate any leftovers. Enjoy!

Prepare brownies according to package directions.

If you aren’t using store-bought lady fingers, prepare your lady fingers now. I used a recipe from Joy of Baking.

Cool the brownies completely after baking.

Add 1/2 cup of milk to a bowl.

Dissolve 2 tablespoons of instant coffee in the milk.

Whisk in the cheesecake pudding.

Add sour cream.

Beat on low-speed and then fold in the pudding mix.

Fold in half of the cool whip.

Dissolve the other 2 tablespoons of coffee in 1/2 cup of hot water.

Pour the coffee over the chunks of lady fingers.

Spread 1/4 of the pudding mix over the cooled brownies.

Spread the cookie chunks on top of the pudding mix.

Cover with the rest of the pudding mix.

Top with the rest of the cool whip.

Sprinkle with cocoa powder. Isn’t this little guy cute?

Finished and ready for the double birthday party!

Topped with candles for the birthday lady. 🙂
